What your SEO agent can do with SEO Skill
SEO Skill fetches your data and returns facts with their dates and limits. It gives no advice. Your agent reads those facts, explains what changed, and points to the pages and queries behind it. If the agent also works in your site's code, it can make the change you agree on and then check the page again.
You still decide what ships. The agent shows its evidence first, so you can see why it wants to touch a page before anything changes.
Connect the hosted MCP or install the CLI
The hosted MCP needs nothing installed. Add it to your agent and sign in with Google when it asks. For Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user seoskill https://seoskill.dev/mcpFor Codex:
codex mcp add seoskill --url https://seoskill.dev/mcpThe site crawl, internal links and Bing Webmaster Tools run on your own machine. For those, install the CLI with npm i -g seo and run seo start. Setup can add the skill to your agents (and if you skip that, seo skill install adds it later).
Jobs to give your SEO agent
| Ask | What the agent reads |
|---|---|
| What changed in search last week? | Clicks, impressions, click-through rate and position against the period before, with the pages and queries that moved. |
| Which titles should I rewrite? | Queries in positions 1 to 4 with a click-through rate below your site's own curve, and the page that ranks for each. |
| Why did this page stop getting clicks? | The live page, its Google index status and its queries against the period before. |
| Which pages are not indexed, and why? | Google's own indexing reasons for up to 100 known URLs a run, each checked live. |
| Did last week's release hurt search? | Equal periods before and after the release date, with any Google updates in the window. |
| What do competitors rank for that we don't? | Ranked keywords and SERPs from your own DataForSEO or Ahrefs key. |
Automate SEO checks with a scheduled agent
SEO automation here means your agent runs the same checks on a schedule and tells you what moved. A weekly task that runs the Search Console report, opens the section that changed most and lists the pages to look at is a good start. The cloud agents guide shows how to give an agent that starts fresh each time access to your account.
The report can also keep a list of the issues it found for a site, so the next session starts where the last one stopped. Your agent marks each issue fixed or ignored as you decide. The hosted server keeps that list for sites in the weekly site audit. For any other site, your agent saves the list and passes it back next time.
If you would rather we watch the site for you, the weekly site audit crawls it every week and checks Google's index every day on our servers, with alerts when a page drops out. It is in beta and costs $50 a month per site. The SEO monitoring page explains what it covers.
Keep the agent honest about cause
A Google update in the same week as a drop shows that the timing matched. It does not prove the update caused it. A noindex tag is reported as what the page says, and it is only a problem if you did not mean it. Ask your agent to show the evidence for a claim before it rewrites twenty title tags on a hunch.
