I'm a British marketer, software engineer and founder, and I've worked in SEO for more than 20 years. I've built and sold SEO tools, a portfolio of programmatic SEO sites and an education startup, and taught programmatic SEO to over 1,000 students.
I write about SEO and shipping software with AI agents on ian.is, and share what works with a large audience on X, YouTube and LinkedIn.

I built this idea once before
Keyword Metrics found the keywords a site already ranked for in Search Console and emailed a weekly report of what to change, years before AI agents could do it. It passed $2,000 a month in revenue and was acquired.
I built and sold an indexing tool
URL Monitor got more pages indexed in Google, grew to $8,000 a month and was acquired for $250,000. I have since rebuilt the idea as Index My Site.
I taught over 1,000 students
My programmatic SEO course, Practical Programmatic. I bought two rival courses along the way and sold it in 2025 to Joshua Hardwick, former head of content at Ahrefs.
I grew and sold SEO businesses
I bought a content site for $2,000 and sold it for $500,000 two years later, and ran the tech at Clever Bytes, which sold in two seven-figure exits.
SEO Skill and Index My Site
Founder, now
I build SEO Skill for AI agents, and rebuilt my indexing tool as Index My Site, which gets your most important pages indexed by Google. I also run a portfolio of small tools, apps and websites built with AI agents and marketed with programmatic SEO.
Practical Programmatic
Founder
A programmatic SEO course with over 1,000 students and more than $200,000 in sales. I grew it by buying pSEO OS for $20,000 and programmaticseocourse.com, and sold it in 2025 to Joshua Hardwick, former head of content at Ahrefs.
URL Monitor
Solo founder
An SEO product that got more pages indexed in Google. Acquired for $250,000, and now rebranded as Cromojo.
