Why Claude needs your data for SEO
Ask Claude why your traffic dropped and, on its own, it can only list the usual suspects. It has never seen your Search Console. Connect SEO Skill and Claude reads your clicks, impressions, positions and queries before it answers, checks the pages it names with URL Inspection, and tells you which Google update fell in the same week.
Add SEO Skill to Claude Code
Run this in a terminal. The user scope makes it work in every project:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user seoskill https://seoskill.dev/mcpStart Claude Code, type /mcp, choose seoskill and sign in with Google. Access is read only. For the site crawl, internal links and Bing, install the CLI with npm i -g seo and run seo start, which can also add the SEO skill to Claude Code (and if you skip that, seo skill install adds it later).
Add SEO Skill to claude.ai and Claude desktop
Open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add, then Add custom connector. Name it seoskill, enter https://seoskill.dev/mcp and sign in with Google. The connector belongs to your Claude account, so it shows up on the web, in the desktop app and on your phone. Every Claude plan can add custom connectors, and the free plan allows one.
Prompts to try in Claude
| Ask | What Claude reads |
|---|---|
| What changed in search last week? | Clicks and impressions against the week before, with the pages and queries that moved most. |
| Which queries am I on page two for? | The striking distance section of the Search Console report, with the page that ranks for each. |
| Why did this page lose its clicks? | The live page, its Google index status and its queries before and after. |
| Did the last core update hit us? | Equal periods before and after the date, with the Google updates in the window. |
| What does this competitor rank for that we don't? | Ranked keywords from your own DataForSEO or Ahrefs key. |
What it costs
Every tool Claude calls is free with no usage cap. Keyword research uses your own DataForSEO or Ahrefs key, so you pay that provider directly. The only paid part is the weekly site audit, $50 a month per site, which crawls the site every week and checks Google's index every day in the background.
