AI search tracking from your own data

See the questions people ask AI about your topic, the visits AI assistants send you, and what AI crawlers can read, all from your own Search Console, analytics and site.

Run it in a terminal, then sign in with Google.

Or run it on your machine

Installs the CLI, signs you in and adds the skill to your agents. Site crawls and Bing data run this way, on your own machine. A crawl fetches many pages, and Bing blocks our hosted server.

The questions people ask AI

When people use Google's AI Mode, and when AI assistants search the web for them, their questions show up in your Search Console. They look different from normal searches:

  • Bare replies, such as "yes" or "tell me more".
  • Follow-ups, such as "what about smith" or "is it common".
  • Long, chat-style questions in full sentences.
  • Agent searches, such as a question with site: added, or a whole prompt.

Your agent finds these queries, groups the many rewordings of one question, and shows the page Google picked for each, with impressions, clicks and position. These are real questions from your own data, not a list of prompts someone guessed.

Whether AI answers cite you

With a DataForSEO key, your agent can take the top 10 of those questions and ask each one on ChatGPT search, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. For every answer you see whether it cited a page on your site, named you without a link, or did neither. A full check costs about 12 cents of DataForSEO credit. See seo research.

It only asks questions from your own Search Console, so you are not checking prompts nobody types. Each answer is one sample, and AI answers change from day to day.

Visits from AI assistants

From Google Analytics, your agent sees the visits that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Copilot send you, by source, and the pages they land on, against the previous period.

What AI crawlers can read

A crawl of your site shows which AI search and training bots your robots.txt allows, whether your pages have Markdown copies, and whether your llms.txt and its links work. See the SEO audit tool.

Read it as a signal

Search Console does not label AI Mode, so the questions are found by their shape, and some will have been typed by people. Search Console also leaves out rare queries, so the counts are a minimum. Visits only count when the AI app passes a referrer.
