SEO Skill vs Google Analytics MCP

Google's own Google Analytics MCP server. It is experimental, runs on your machine and reads reports and property settings through Google's APIs. SEO Skill gives your agent your own Search Console, Google Analytics and keyword data for free, with nothing to install.

Get started free

Run it in a terminal, then sign in with Google.

Or run it on your machine

Installs the CLI, signs you in and adds the skill to your agents. Site crawls and Bing data run this way, on your own machine. A crawl fetches many pages, and Bing blocks our hosted server.

Pick Google Analytics MCP if

From Google Analytics MCP's own pages.

  • You want the server Google's Analytics team publishes.

  • You need realtime and funnel reports, or your custom dimensions and metrics.

  • You want to read account settings such as Google Ads links and annotations.

Pick SEO Skill if

One hosted MCP server for your own search data.

  • You want nothing to install and no Google Cloud project: one URL and a Google sign-in.

  • You want it in claude.ai, ChatGPT and Le Chat on the web, and in cloud agents that cannot reach your laptop.

  • You want every tool your agent calls to be free, with no usage cap and no trial that ends.

  • You want Search Console, Google Analytics, URL Inspection and Clicky behind one Google sign-in, plus keyword research with your own DataForSEO or Ahrefs key.

Side by side

Every fact we compared, with Google Analytics MCP's taken from the sources at the end of this page.

Connect

SEO Skill: Add https://seoskill.dev/mcp to your agent and sign in with Google. Read-only access, no Google Cloud project, no API key.

Google Analytics MCP: Google Application Default Credentials: either your Google user account through gcloud auth application-default login (optionally with your own OAuth desktop or web client JSON), or a service account key or impersonation. A Google Cloud project with the Analytics Admin and Data APIs enabled is required.

Tools

SEO Skill: 7 hosted tools: seo_sites, seo_report, seo_page, seo_compare, seo_index, seo_research and seo_data. The CLI adds the site crawl, internal links and Bing.

Google Analytics MCP: 9 tools listed in the GitHub README and 9 listed on the Google developers page. The lists differ: the README includes create_property_annotation and the developers page includes run_conversions_report instead.

Data sources

SEO Skill: Google Search Console, Google Analytics, URL Inspection, Clicky, and DataForSEO or Ahrefs with your own key. Bing Webmaster Tools in the CLI. Free Domain Rating by Ahrefs on research rows.

SEO Skill: The weekly site audit is $50 a month per site: weekly crawl, daily Google index checks, stored history, drop and return alerts, and a Monday email and webhook. Cancel any time.

Google Analytics MCP: Free and open source

Can it change anything

SEO Skill: Read-only Google sign-in. Your agent can start the paid audit for a site, which returns a Stripe Checkout link for you to open.

Google Analytics MCP: The developers page says it is read only and cannot create, modify or delete Google Analytics settings. The GitHub README lists create_property_annotation, which needs the --allow-write flag and the analytics.edit scope.

Your data

SEO Skill: Search Console and analytics rows are fetched on each request and never stored, except what the paid weekly audit keeps for its sites. Your linked accounts and saved keys are kept, encrypted.

Google Analytics MCP: Runs locally on your machine (the README calls it a local MCP server). Storage is not stated beyond the credentials file you create.

History

SEO Skill: Google's 16 months, read live. With the weekly audit, crawl and index history for the sites you audit.
