# WordPress MCP for SEO fixes

SEO Skill tells your agent which posts need work, from your own Search Console. The WordPress MCP lets it make the change. Together they close the loop without copy and paste.

    Add SEO Skill to your agent and sign in with Google. In Claude Code:

    ```
    claude mcp add --transport http --scope user seoskill https://seoskill.dev/mcp

    Turn on MCP access in your WordPress.com account under Preferences, then AI and MCP. Self-hosted sites connect through Jetpack.

    Add the WordPress.com MCP server to the same agent and sign in to WordPress.com:

    ```

    In Claude or ChatGPT on the web, add the WordPress.com connector or plugin from its directory instead, and choose Full access to let it edit.

A WordPress.com site, on any plan including free, or a self-hosted site connected through Jetpack (no Jetpack plan needed), per WordPress.com. Developers can also run the official MCP Adapter plugin on a self-hosted site.

## From finding to fixed

SEO Skill reads your data and never writes to your site. The WordPress.com MCP server makes the edits, with the access you give it.

-   ### Find what to fix

    `seo_report`

    Ask for the issues section of the report. It lists striking distance queries, low click-through rates and quick wins from your Search Console, each with an id.

-   ### Check the page first

    `seo_page`

    Your agent reads the live page, its Google index status and the queries it gets clicks for, so it edits the right thing.

-   ### Make the change in WordPress

    The WordPress.com MCP server saves the new title, copy or description. Ask for a draft when you want to read it before it goes live.

-   ### Mark it fixed

    `seo_report`

    Tell your agent it is done. The issue is marked fixed, and if it shows up again later the report says so.

-   ### See what happened

    `seo_compare`

    A few weeks later, compare clicks and positions before and after the date you made the change.

## What the WordPress.com MCP server can change

WordPress.com lists no tool for a single post's SEO title or meta description. With Yoast SEO, its Abilities can read those fields, but its update Ability covers canonical URLs, cornerstone content and robots settings. An update with status publish goes live at once, so ask for drafts.

-   ### Post and page titles and content

    Create, read, update and delete posts and pages. New posts start as drafts.

-   ### One section at a time

    Change a single block of a post in place, so a weak introduction gets rewritten without touching the rest.

-   ### Categories, tags and custom post types

    Including WooCommerce products and types added by themes or plugins.

-   ### The homepage meta description

    On Premium, Business and Commerce plans, and only while no other SEO plugin is active.

## Prompts to try

Each one starts with your own numbers and ends with an edit you can check.

-   ### Which posts are on page two for a query, and rewrite their intros as drafts.

    SEO Skill lists the striking distance queries and pages. The WordPress MCP saves a draft of each intro for you to review.

-   ### Find posts with a low click-through rate and suggest new titles.

    The low CTR section gives the pages and their queries. Ask for the titles first, then tell the agent which to apply.

-   ### Which pages lost their clicks this month, and are they still indexed?

    SEO Skill checks each one with URL Inspection before your agent opens the post to edit.
